Be Prepared
Race Information
The Minneapolis Duathlon, a premier multi-sport event, became the largest du in America in our inaugural year (2009). We hope on August 26th, 2012 you can join us as we put on the largest Du in the World!
First Wave starts for the Minneapolis Duathlon at 7:00 a.m.
The Minneapolis Duathlon includes a 3.1-mile run, 18-mile bike, and a 3.1-mile run which can be done individually or as a 2- or 3-person relay, or you just do the 5K run. All of the races happen in downtown Minneapolis and along the scenic Mississippi River. It is a beautiful, rolling course perfect for athletes of who have different levels of experience. We would love for you, your friends and family to join us!
Each of these races, whether you do them as an individual or as a relay, offers the fourth piece of our 2012 5-medal series: the stained glass Minneapolis Duathlon medal. Plus athletes get a Minneapolis Duathlon jersey with each registration.
Team Ortho Foundation wants to keep every BODY active, whether it’s their first race or if they’re a multi-sport veteran. As a result we don’t limit our bike categories. For the duathlon the prizes are awarded in each of these bike categories:
- road
- mountain
- commuter
- single speed
No headsets, strollers, burleys or dogs allowed in this event
“The Minneapolis Duathlon is a very special event. By marrying the two communities of cycling and running, we meet so many needs of athletes out there.” said John Larson, executive director of Team Ortho Foundation which organizes this and six other races each year.
“The race only reaffirmed what I had already known…I love duathlons,” one Minneapolis Duathlete recalled. Team Ortho Foundation hopes you can have the chance to experience that too.

Duathlon Relays
2 or 3-Person Relays
Why not throw a little ride in with your run? Or a run in with your ride? The two -person relay can divide up their legs however they want (one person can do both runs or one run and the bike, the other team member does the remaining leg) and for a three-person relay team, each person takes leg. What's even more cool is that everyone in the relay gets the Minneapolis Duathlon bike jersey and a beautiful stained-glass finisher's medal.
